“You know that whole, suddenly America is like the biggest oil producer. That was me, people.”

Wait… what? Did former president Obama just take credit for America becoming the world’s largest oil producer?

“You know that whole, suddenly America is like the biggest oil producer. That was me, people. – Just say thank you, please.”

Holy-moly. The former president jumped right over ridiculous and landed square on delusional with that one.

Wasn’t Obama the one who said, “We must end the age of oil in our time?” As we all know, Obama’s primary policy goal was to expand wind and solar power as fast as possible while his administration slowed down the oil and gas industry with excessive regulation. How much more oil and natural gas would we be producing today, were it not for Obama’s regulatory assault? And do you remember what he said about high crude oil and gasoline prices back in 2012?

“And keep in mind, we can’t just drill our way out of this problem.”

Obama had nothing to do with the shale revolution. No politician did. Today the U.S. leads the world in oil and natural gas production because of hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling – innovations developed by small, independent companies. Thousands of roustabouts and roughnecks and many other men and women in the oil and natural gas business built that… not Obama.

For the Clear Energy Alliance, I’m Mark Mathis. Power On.
